Realizing a sustainable society is an essential element in practicing our management philosophy

to contribute to a sustainable society while achieving growth of the corporate group.
Through these efforts, we aim to continue to earn the trust of all stakeholders,
including customers, business partners, employees, shareholders, and local communities.

ENVIRONMENT Environmental initiatives

Environmental policy

Based on our management philosophy of “Creating a future without limits,” the Group promotes the proactive actions of each and every employee to preserve the environment and realize a sustainable society throughout all of our business activities.

“Group” refers to the entire Endo Manufacturing Group.

Respond to climate change

We promote business activities based on the premise of reducing our impact on the environment, improve energy efficiency, promote energy conservation measures, reduce waste, and strive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Reduce GHG emissions

We contribute toward realizing a decarbonized society by continuously measuring greenhouse gas emissions generated from our business activities and promoting initiatives to reduce these emissions.

Make efficient use of water resources

We are engaged in the sustainable use of water resources and conservation of water quality through reducing water consumption, reusing resources, and appropriately treating wastewater throughout our business activities.

Reduce our impact on the environment

We minimize emissions of greenhouse gases as well as toxic substances and dust into the atmosphere, monitor emissions, and appropriately manage treatment facilities and dust collection equipment. We also ensure that chemical substances are managed appropriately and strive to prevent any impact on surrounding environments due to factors such as odor, noise, vibration, and light pollution.

Contribute toward realizing a recycling-oriented society

We will contribute toward realizing a recycling-oriented society by appropriately managing waste generated throughout our business activities, striving to reduce waste, and promoting the effective use of resources and the 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).

Respect biodiversity

We strive to maintain and conserve biodiversity by working to avoid or reduce negative impacts on biodiversity caused by land use, use of water and other resources, and air pollution throughout our business activities.

Procure minerals responsibly

In procuring mineral resources, we promote efforts to avoid the use of conflict minerals, not only to avoid environmental destruction, but also to avoid complicity in human rights abuses and in financing of terrorists and other antisocial groups.

Policy on human rights

Respect for basic human rights

The Group respects, protects, and does not infringe upon the fundamental human rights of all people associated with the company. We support and respect international declarations and norms such as the International Bill of Human Rights (Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Covenants on Human Rights), the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and we fulfill our responsibilities as a company.

Scope

This policy applies to all Group executive officers and employees, and we also require our suppliers and business partners to understand and cooperate with this policy.

Prohibition of child labor and restrictions on the employment of young workers

We strictly prohibit having children work in any of our business activities. We also prohibit workers under the age of 18 from working at night and on holidays or performing any other work that may endanger their health or safety.

Prohibition of forced labor

We do not engage in any form of forced labor throughout our business activities, including bonded (including debt bondage) or detained labor, involuntary or exploitative labor, or slavery or human trafficking. We guarantee that the work of employees engaged in business activities is voluntary, including overtime, and prohibit forcing employees to work against their will.

Prohibition of discrimination and harassment

We do not engage in any form of discrimination or any inhumane practice that diminishes the dignity of individual employees throughout all of our business activities, including hiring, wages, promotions, compensation, and training.
We prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity, age, ideology, religion, creed, language, disability, marital status, pregnancy and childbirth, or social status. We also prohibit other unjust acts such as violence, harassment, bullying, abuse, mental or physical oppression, public insults, and verbal attacks.

Training and raising awareness

The Group provides ongoing training to its executive officers and employees so that they understand the importance of respecting human rights and put this into practice.

Basic policy on working environments,
health and safety

Ensuring appropriate working conditions

The Group guarantees all employees the right to work in a safe, sanitary, and humane working environment. We comply with the laws and regulations of the countries and regions in which we conduct our business activities, and appropriately observe working conditions such as working hours, days off, vacations, and wages in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

We clearly state the terms of employment in contracts (duties, wages, working hours, etc.) and require the understanding and agreement of the employee prior to concluding a contract.

We guarantee compensation that is not less than the minimum wage, and we also take into account the local living wage level.

We observe legal working hours, properly manage overtime work, and ensure that extra wages are paid.

We support the health and livelihood of our employees by providing welfare programs that include participation in legally mandated social insurance systems.

We promote flexible work styles, including support systems for childcare and nursing care, reduced working hours, and remote work.       

We strive to provide equal employment conditions to non-regular employees and ensure basic working conditions.

Employee safety and health

In order to prevent occupational accidents and maintain healthy work environments, the Group has established our Safety and Health Management Regulations and maintains a safety and health management system. To prevent risks to health from repetitive and heavy work, noise, vibration, dust, and high temperatures, we ensure that all necessary protective equipment is worn, and continue to improve work environments including ventilation facilities and soundproofing measures.

We also promote regular health checkups and stress checks in accordance with laws and regulations, as well as periodic facility inspections, in order to create safe and healthy workplaces, both physically and mentally. We regularly assess the hazards and health risks associated with our operations, take appropriate preventive measures, provide training on health and safety, and strive to make continuous improvements.

Appropriate training opportunities

We provide all employees with appropriate training related to our business activities, as well as skill development tailored to their needs. We also strive to support the career development of our employees by providing training at each job level.

Support for business partners

We also ask our business partners, including our suppliers, to respect our basic policies on human rights and labor standards, and support their implementation as needed. In the event that a violation of this policy is found, we encourage the implementation of measures to ensure that the violation is corrected within a reasonable period of time.

Ensuring social dialogue

The Group respects the freedom of all employees to express their opinions, associate and negotiate, and aims to create work environments that value healthy and constructive social dialogue.
In order to facilitate smooth communication between management and employees, we respect the opinions of employees regarding working conditions and working environments, and strive to improve work environments by providing opportunities for the exchange of opinions, such as by conducting employee questionnaires and setting up opportunities for labor-management consultations.

GOVERNANCE Governance initiatives

Policy on corporate governance

We recognize that strengthening and enhancing corporate governance is extremely important in order to practice our management philosophy of “Creating a future without limits,” achieve sustainable growth for the entire corporate group, and increase corporate value over the medium to long term. We will work to develop and continuously review our governance system to build a relationship of trust with our shareholders and all other stakeholders and to enhance the soundness, transparency, and efficiency of our management.
We will also promote trustworthy corporate management by reflecting objective and multifaceted perspectives in management through the participation of outside executive officers.

Responsibilities of the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors makes decisions on statutory matters and important business execution matters, and strives to maintain an appropriate supervision and reporting system for group companies, including subsidiaries, from the standpoint of overseeing the entire corporate group. It also accurately identifies and manages risks related to group governance, such as fraud and legal violations, and promotes sound and highly transparent corporate group management.

Ensuring shareholder rights and equality

We respect the rights of all shareholders, including minority shareholders and foreign shareholders, strive to ensure equality, and disclose information in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure that all shareholders have access to the same information.

Relationships with stakeholders other than shareholders

In order to enhance corporate value over the medium to long term, we respect the interests of our various stakeholders, including shareholders, investors, customers, local communities, government agencies, business partners and affiliated companies, and employees and their families, and work together with them in an appropriate manner.
We respect diversity of all kinds (including age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, religion, and disability), and we recognize and utilize employees with diverse ideas and perspectives to create environments in which each individual can demonstrate their abilities to the fullest extent to realize our management philosophy.

Ensuring appropriate information disclosure and transparency

Our basic policy is to disclose information in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure transparency and fairness in management and to fulfill our social responsibility as a corporation. In addition to disclosing financial information in accordance with laws, regulations, and stock exchange rules, we strive to build a relationship of trust with our stakeholders by providing easy-to-understand and reliable non-financial information on topics such as our management philosophy, medium-term management plan, risk management, compliance policy, and sustainability.

Dialogue with shareholders and investors

In order to promote constructive dialogue with shareholders and investors, we have established a policy regarding the development of systems and initiatives, and attempt to expand content and opportunities through conducting individual dialogue, disclosing information online, and other initiatives.
When meeting with shareholders and investors, we comply with fair disclosure rules and thoroughly manage information to ensure that important information is disclosed to all relevant parties.


Policy on risk management

The Group regards risk management as an important management issue in order to achieve sustainable growth and increase corporate value.
We have established our Risk Management Regulations and the Compliance and Risk Management Committee led by management in order to strengthen our company-wide and systematic risk management system for various risks such as legal compliance, information security, disaster countermeasures, and business continuity.
Throughout all of our business activities, we will build a robust corporate structure that can flexibly respond to changes in the business environment by ensuring that risks are prevented, detected early on, or promptly and appropriately handled.


Basic policy on information security

The Group believes that information security is one of the most important issues in ensuring the normal and smooth operation of its business activities.
We have established our Information Security Management Regulations; created a system to protect information assets from risks such as unauthorized access, leakage, falsification, and destruction in compliance with laws, regulations, and internal rules; and continuously review and improve the system.


Basic policy on personal information protection

The Group is deeply aware of the importance of protecting and managing personal information and trade secret information, and has established our Information Management Rules and Rules for Handling Personal Information to ensure the appropriate acquisition, use, and management of such information. We comply with laws, regulations, and internal rules, work to make continuous improvements, strive to prevent information leakage, and ensure the implementation of safety control measures. Management takes a proactive approach to promoting the protection of personal information, and attempts to raise awareness and ensure effectiveness throughout the company.
